Former England striker Dion Dublin believes Aston Villa’s defeat to Manchester United on Sunday was “just a blip” but that Unai Emery’s side “have just dropped off a little bit”.
Villa have won just one of their last six games in all competitions, exiting the FA Cup and falling out of the top four in the Premier League.
“Aston Villa have dropped their guard of late,” Dublin told BBC Radio 5 Live breakfast.
“They had a bad result against Chelsea in the FA Cup last week and again yesterday.
“Because they have set such high standards this season, we expect more from Aston Villa and they have just dropped off a little bit.
“They got a little jab on the chin from United yesterday. I thought Erik ten Hag’s side possibly just edged it.
“I expect Villa to get back to where they were, and that this was just a blip.”
