Byrne up to T22 after 36 holes at Rose Ladies Open – Irish Golfer Magazine

Must read

After an understandable post Curtis Cup metaphorical hangover, it was back to business as usual for Sara Byrne as she carded a three-under 69 on day two of the Rose Ladies Open at The Melbourne Club at Brocket Hall.

An opening one-over 73 left the professional debutant from Douglas in a tie for 40th, and but for an untimely double bogey on her penultimate hole, she would’ve been within touching distance of the top 10.

Prior to that, starting on the 10th, she’d made three birdies on her opening nine and added two more on the way home before the costly error on the eighth.

She’ll have eyes on another round in the 60s and collecting her first paycheque as a professional golfer.

Annabel Wilson followed up her opening level-par round with a one-over on day two to sit tied for 38th. She also started on the 10th, and her opening nine holes was a Jekyll and Hyde affair, with a double bogey, bogey start, followed by two birdies, another double bogey and an eagle at the 18th.

The front side was much more sedate with just one birdie and one bogey traded to end the day on +1 overall.

Swedes Kajsa Arwefjalll and Anna Magnusson alongside the Netherland’s Lauren Holmey sit at the top of the leaderboard on nine-under-par.

Holmey went one shot better than yesterday to card a 67 (-5).

The 21-year-old, who started on 10, only rolled in six birdies and only one bogey on her 12th hole to top the leaderboard.
