Jaume Munar v Aleksandar Kovacevic Head to Head

This will be the first career meeting between Jaume Munar and Aleksandar Kovacevic.

Munar Winless on Hard Courts

Jaume Munar is 4-7 for the season, with all those wins registered on the red clay in South American last month. On hard courts, the Spaniard is 0-4, with the most embarrassing of those losses coming at this year’s Australian Open when he lost Dalibor Svrcina – ranked over 100 spots below him in the rankings.

Munar’s last tournament appearance came at the Indian Wells Masters where he pushed China’s history-maker Yibing Wu to three sets before a controversial ending to their match in the final point.

The 25-year-old switches his attention to the Miami Masters where he has a career record 1-2 in two previous visits. Last year, he came through qualifying and lost to Taro Daniel in the first round.

With his winless drought potentially extending into his fifth hard-court tournament, the Spaniard might lose further ground in the ATP rankings.

Kovacevic Enters As Lucky Loser

Aleksandar Kovacevic lost to his namesake Aleksandar Vukic in the second round of qualifying on Tuesday but has since got into the main draw as a lucky loser replacing the injured Constant Lestienne.

Kovacevic arrived in the Miami qualifying rounds with a bit of momentum after reaching the quarterfinal at the Phoenix Challenger, beating the likes of Christopher O’Connell and Richard Gasquet before bowing out to Quentin Halys.

Two weeks ago, Kovacevic lost the opening match of this year’s Indian Wells Masters to Marcos Giron. But having been handed a second chance in Florida, he might look to capitalize on that opportunity.

Kovacevic is 0-3 at Tour level this season but has cleaned house on the Challenger Tour, amassing two titles already in the first quarter of 2023.

Munar v Kovacevic Prediction and Tip

If Munar was looking to end his winless drought on hard courts this week, he might need to look elsewhere. Kovacevic is already on double-digit match wins on the surface in 2023 and should pick up a valuable win at Tour level.
