Latest Garda figures show over 600 incidents with discriminatory motives were recorded last year.
There’s been a 29% jump in the number of reported hate crimes and hate related incidents.
A total of 582 hate crimes were recorded last year.
Over 600 cases of discriminatory motives were recorded, with race being the most prevalent motive, followed by sexual orientation and nationality.
The largest number of hate related incidents reported took place in Dublin (47%), which made up nearly half of all incidents.
Gardaí say that reports of hate crimes or hate incidents will be recorded and investigated as appropriate and are encouraging anyone impacted to come forward.
