Traffic restrictions in place across Dublin city for funeral of Shane MacGowan

Traffic management arrangements have been put in place for the funeral of legendary singer Shane MacGowan today.

A mile long worth of road closures are expected across the city as the procession moves through the capital for the public to pay their final farewell.

Rolling closures and diversions will be in place from 10.30am until 11.45am.

The route includes South Lotts Road, Pearse Street, Westland Row, and Fenian Street.

The procession will begin at St Lotts road at around 11am. The procession will cross MacMahon Bridge and continue onto Pearse Street.

It will move to the junction at Lombard Street, then on to Westland Row and Fenian Street, before concluding at Denzille Lane at around 11.45am.

Large crowds are expected with a garda spokesman said: “Gardaí would like to advise anyone who has travel arrangements in Dublin City between 10.45am – 11.45am to be aware of traffic restrictions that will be in place along the route.”
