When is the Irish Derby 2024? Curragh date, start time, runners and betting

Must read

The third Classic at the Curragh, the Irish Derby, is one of the most lucrative contests of the whole year.

The latest renewal, worth €712,500 to winning connections, provides a stiff test over 12 furlongs and a rematch between the second and third in the Epsom equivalent, Ambiente Friendly and Los Angeles, is on the cards.

The Irish Derby runners are bidding to follow in the hooves of Auguste Rodin, who claimed the spoils in last season’s edition to hand Ballydoyle trainer Aidan O’Brien a record-extending 15th success.

You can run the rule over our Irish Derby odds on the Paddy Power website and Paddy Power app, otherwise all the key details about this year’s renewal can be found below.

Irish Derby odds are on and prices for the leading contenders can be seen on our snazzy widgets below.

Ambiente Friendly is the favourite with Paddy Power for the Irish Derby after placing second in the Epsom equivalent but will need to be supplemented at a cost of €100,000, which is covered as part of his victory in the Lingfield Derby Trial in May.

Los Angeles is next in our early betting after finishing third at Epsom and getting the nod for the Classic ahead of City Of Troy, who is being aimed at the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown.

*Odds quoted on the widget are Future Racing / Antepost prices which means that if your selection does not run in the race for whatever reason – you will lose your stake under traditional Antepost rules
