Amazon opening dedicated Ireland site in 2025

Amazon is expanding operations in Ireland.

Amazon is expanding its e-commerce operations in the Emerald Isle.

The e-tail giant will launch a new dedicated online storefront in Ireland,, in 2025. While many consumers in Ireland already shop on Amazon stores in other countries, the new Ireland store will offer a localized shopping experience with a selection of over 100 million products, including items from Irish businesses.

The planned opening of the site follows the launch of Amazon’s first Irish fulfillment center in Dublin in 2022, which created 500 new jobs and provides seven-day-a-week delivery services across the country, including one-day delivery on hundreds of thousands of products. Customers will also be able to browse products with local pricing and no additional customs charges.

Over 1,000 small- and medium-sized Irish businesses already sell on Amazon. The new store will also be supported by the new five-year agreement that the state-owned Irish postal services provider An Post and Amazon announced in 2023, which the e-tailer says will lead to more convenient and faster deliveries and returns.

Amazon already employs around 6,500 people in Cork, Dublin, and Drogheda, Ireland in roles including data engineers, operations management, and finance. The company says it has invested more than $18 billion in Ireland since 2020. Ireland will also be able to watch UEFA Champions League football on Prime Video starting from the 2024-25 season.

“We already serve customers across Ireland, support more than 1,000 local businesses who sell on Amazon, and are a significant employer in Ireland,” said Darragh Kelly, Ireland general manager for customer fulfillment at Amazon. “Our teams across the country are so excited about this next chapter in our story here, and are looking forward to delivering for our customers through our new Irish store in 2025.”

Amazon opens for business in South Africa

Amazon’s announcement of its upcoming dedicated Irish e-commerce site follows its recent launch of, its South African digital storefront, available via the Amazon shopping app or desktop or mobile browser. 

The site allows customers in South Africa to browse and shop from a selection of local and international brands across 20 different product categories, with same-day and next-day delivery and multiple options to make returns within 30 days of a purchase.
