Basketball Ireland has admitted that it does not check if American professional players playing for Irish clubs have the required work permits in place to play professional sports.
Basketball sources have revealed growing frustration in the game from Irish clubs who believe they are sticking to the State’s work permit and visa rules for hiring US players, while other clubs bring in American professionals seemingly without having to wait weeks or even months for necessary work permits.
