Laois to hold civic reception for young World Champion Irish dancer

The top civic honour in Laois is coming to a ten year old boy who recently became the youngest male World Champion at Irish Dancing.

Bobby Kinsella from Stradbally won the Under 11 category in An Chomhdháil Irish Dancing World Championships in Killarney, where Michael Flatley expressing hope that Bobby can grow up to be part of Lord of The Dance.

He dances with the Lynam School of Irish Dancing, founded by his grandmother Gabriel Lynam, where his mother Carmel also works as a dance teacher.

Laois County Council has decided to hold a Civic Reception in honour of the achievement.

It was proposed by Cllr Paschal McEvoy, seconded by Cllr Catherine Fitzgerald.

The reception followed a recommendation by the council’s Corporate Policy Group, after Bobby won his title and a giant trophy at the championships in March.

A date is yet to be decided for the reception.
