Notre Dame Fighting Irish News: Golden Domers lead NFL Draft picks, more

Must read

While the Notre Dame football team didn’t have a great 2024 NFL Draft, it was quite a bit better than some other schools. When the smoke cleared on the seven-round bonanza, it was Javontae Jean-Baptiste who allowed the Fighting Irish to capture a bit of history.

With the selection of the edge rusher in the 7th round, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish maintained their position at the top. The Golden Domers are leading the college football pack with the highest number of players drafted into the NFL.

The Fighting Irish now have 532 players taken in the NFL Draft, precisely one more than longtime rival USC. Those two schools have a rather impressive lead over anyone on the list. Third place is the Ohio State Buckeyes with 489.

Oklahoma is fourth with 417.

The good news here is that the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have been on a downslope in the last few years regarding talent. The Marcus Freeman era saw talent levels go back up. The 2025 NFL Draft should help them add to the lead.

It took far too long for Cam Hart to get drafted. However, when he finally did get picked by the Los Angeles Chargers, it’s clear he was relieved. There’s always a ton of great stories like this coming out of the NFL Draft. This one is especially great.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish women’s basketball Nat Marshall has found her new home after transferring out of South Bend. Now it turns out that she’ll be facing off against her former teammates.

Marshall decided to go to the Miami Hurricanes.

Markus Burton caused quite a stir earlier this month when he declared for the NBA Draft. Earlier this week, he talked a bit more about that decision and what he’s expecting from the experience. The good news here is that the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will almost certainly not lose the star. At least not yet.
