Transport Infrastructure Ireland pledge over 23 million euro to Sligo & Leitrim projects – Ocean FM

A total of €23.4m million euro has been announced by Transport infrastructure Ireland for road projects in Sligo and Leitrim.

The funding will see the progression of a number of major projects including the long-awaited developments on the N17 and the N4 along and the Sligo Greenway and the SLNCR greenway from Sligo to Enniskillen.

In Sligo over 18 million euro has been allocated for work to commence on a number of projects.

€900,000 will be allocated to the National Primary Major Schemes, namely the Collooney to Castlebaldwin, while a similar sum will go to the N17 Knock to Collooney project.

Other projects to receive funding in Sligo will include the:

N16 Lugatober Realignment where €9,000,000 has been pledged.

The N15 Rathcormack South Pavement which will be provided with €1,000,000 While the Sligo Greenway has been allocated 700,000

In Leitrim the SLNCR, Sligo to Enniskillen Greenway will receive one and a half million euro while the N16 Manorhamilton to Cornacloy Phase 2 pavement will get €600,000.

The same project’s Phase 4, Pavement Scheme also being earmarked 600,000 Euro.

One Million Euro will be made available for the N4 Carrick-on-Shannon to Dromod bypass at Drumsna.

Sligo Leitrim TD Deputy Frank Feighan has expressed his gratitude to An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar for his intervention at cabinet to ensure that projects got the green light to proceed.

The Sligo Drumcliff Councillor Thomas Walsh says the funding will help link up both sides of Collooney.

One project that has been allocated funding is resurfacing works at Rathcormac National School.

The work is to be carried out over the Easter holidays, to ensure minimal traffic disruption.

Local Independent Councillor, Marie Casserly, says the long-awaited developments will be a big lift to the area.
