Pakistan cricket team continued their tradition of comical mishaps on the field as opener Saim Ayub ran partner Mohammad Rizwan out at the non-striker end in the first T20I against Ireland.

With the T20 World Cup preparations in sight, Pakistan travelled to Dublin for a three-game T20 series against Ireland. The series opener was held earlier today as Paul Stirling invited Babar Azam’s troops to bat first after winning the toss.

However, what unfolded moments later was an absolute horror show for Pakistan. Youngster Saim Ayub was sent to open alongside Mohammad Rizwan as captain Babar Azam dropped himself down to no. 3. But Ayub’s nerves got the better of him.

Saim Ayub nudged a fullish delivery from McCarthy to mid-off in the second over and took off for a single.

However, as he saw Tector charge towards the ball, Ayub got nervous and doubted his call. In a rush of blood, he sent back Rizwan halfway through the pitch.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Rizwan tried to best get back into the crease safely. But unfortunately, a direct hit from Tector was spot on as Rizwan was caught way short in his desperate dive, thus marking the end of his short stay on the crease.

Pakistan’s trend of comical mix-ups and lack of proper game awareness is still perpetuating, and it’s not a good sign, given that the T20 World Cup is just weeks away. Such mistakes will cost them dearly on the world stand, where the margin of error is extremely thin.

That being said, Pakistan lost a big wicket early on, but luckily, captain Babar Azam and Saim Ayub made it up with an 85-run partnership, and the visitor eventually finished with 182 first-innings total.
